MSC Strengthens Commitment to Thailand with Expansion in Songkhla
31/01/2024
MSC is pleased to announce its expansion in Songkhla, strengthening its commitment to serving the dynamic shipping needs of customers in Thailand. One of the world’s largest container shipping and logistics company, MSC’s expansion in Southern Thailand will provide enhanced convenience, improved efficiency and more tailored solutions for local businesses to better participate in international trade and commerce. The official inauguration of MSC Songkhla on 26 January was celebrated by around 70 distinguished guests, including local authorities, customers and business partners.
Stable and Efficient Feeder Services Connecting Southern Thailand with Worldwide Ports
Songkhla has developed rapidly in the recent decades to become a bustling trading and transportation hub for the Southern region of Thailand. Situated on the Malay Peninsula and on the coast of the Gulf of Thailand, the province also serves as a maritime gateway with Malaysia and Singapore, two of the world’s major transshipment centers.
Connecting businesses in Southern Thailand to the world, MSC Songkhla provides two weekly feeder services with transshipment options for export to worldwide ports via Singapore and Tanjung Pelepas. This greatly benefits a diverse range of sectors in Southern Thailand, such as rubber, rubberwood, frozen food and general cargo. Further driving the economic growth of the country’s southern region, MSC Songkhla is also well-placed to handle import cargoes, ranging from fertilizers and building materials, to frozen fish and general cargo.
Additionally, MSC Songkhla will provide customers with greater ease in managing their cargo shipments and a more efficient document handling process.
Local Expertise, Tailored Solutions and Signature MSC Personal Touch
"Expanding our reach in Southern Thailand, the new Songkhla office marks a new era for MSC Thailand, bringing us closer to our customers and fueling growth through local expertise,” Gaspard Vandamme, Managing Director of MSC Thailand said.
MSC opened its first branch in Bangkok in 2001. As part of its growth and commitment to the Thai market, it subsequent set up an office in Songkhla and a vessel operations office in Laem Chabang port to now have a strong presence across Thailand. This expansion and relocation of MSC Songkhla to a newer and bigger office will facilitate its continuous expansion and allow it to better serve its customers.
