MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company has announced a new procedure that the customs will offer 24-hour cargo clearance at King Abdullah Port.
This development brings significant benefit to our loyal customers and makes us the first Port in the Kingdom to introduce such a forward-thinking initiative.
Starting from Monday 20th February, procedures now involve the manifest being uploaded five days before the arrival of the vessel, and the Delivery Order being released two days before arrival.
Containers will be scanned during the discharge process, and a fully automated process will continue to ensure that our customers are kept thoroughly informed at every stage.
Our customers are already enjoying the benefit of our most advanced port with the latest technology at King Abdullah.
The Port sits on the main trade route between Asia and Europe, making it a superb location for serving key global markets.
Hisham Al Ansari, Chief Executive for MSC Saudi Arabia, said: “This announcement brings great benefit to our customers and we are therefore delighted to be ahead of the field in presenting this progress.
“The Port itself is already seen as a superb infrastructure, with over 30 deep water berths, direct highway access 24/7, and such a perfect main-trade position between Asia and Europe.
“Adding 24 hours cargo clearance in addition to this existing offering really does make for so many advantages to busy global customers.”
