06/11/2023

On October 12th MSC EUGENIA was welcomed to the port of Montevideo, home of its godmother, Eugenia Gonzalez. An intimate event was organized to commemorate the occasion held at Montevideo Port, in Uruguay. The vessel named after the daughter of, MSC Uruguay, managing director Roberto Gonzalez.

A celebration to remember

MSC Eugenia was built in 2022, it is 328.46m long and it has a carrying capacity of 11,000+ TEUs.

All MSC Uruguay employees, Eugenia’s family and a few local authorities took part in this exiting celebration. The ceremony started with pictures, food and drinks, as well as an exchange of words between Eugenia and the captain.
As is traditional, a signed portrait of the ship's godmother was gifted to the captain and crew as a symbol of safe travels. This gesture also represents and portrays MSC family values. In return the captain presented Eugenia with a beautiful bouquet of flowers.

A toast was shared between attendees and Roberto Gonzalez delivered a few words thanking MSC for the opportunity and the Aponte family for always keeping Uruguay in their minds. After the event on land, Eugenia and her family were able to visit the inside of the ship where the crew shared a cake and a tour of the boat.
